Ready to join an organization which is a leader in their field and making a direct impact on the welfare and health of Canada’s population?  Our Ottawa client is adding to their growing Marketing and Communications team and requires a fluently bilingual Manager Marketing & Communications.

Working with the Chief Marketing and Membership officer, the Manager Marketing & Communications will oversee the various functions of the marketing and communications team and is the “keeper of the brand” externally. This person will be responsible for the concept, development, execution and evaluation of internally driven campaigns as well as external requests and support work.

Responsible for the project management of all functions of communications in the office, the Manager, Communications and Marketing manages content specialist(s), the internal briefing and work allocation process, driven marketing campaigns, the organization’s publications and oversees all translation needs for the organization.

The communications team functions as a support provider to internal departments and key stakeholders and components. The communications team is directly responsible to ensure brand and consistency across all executions are maintained. This role requires  an individual with prior experience managing people, communications and marketing projects, as well as expertise in fostering and growing relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise directly with the CMO in the development of the operational plan for the communications and marketing department
  • Manage the Content Specialist(s) including resource planning, work allocation, coaching and evaluation
  • Be the keeper of the brand across all internal and external channels including updates to brand standards (logos, key messages, colours, templates, nomenclature and vocabulary)
  • Manage relationships with key vendors including agency, graphic design, print suppliers, and others
  • Develop and execute channel plans and strategies that contribute to a consistent brand voice for the organization and support the organization’s strategic goals
  • Have an always-on, member-first approach to communications, respectful of the member, their time and their inbox
  • Measure, track and analyze analytics, trends and performance across all channels and report and recommend proposed alterations to LT on a minimum of a monthly basis
  • Champion clear, concise objectives for each channel which contribute to the style, tone and content shared by the organization and its channels
  • Be the ‘final set of eyes’ on all external work
  • Lead the creative briefing process for the Communications and Marketing team and the assignment, tracking and execution of all support requests from component groups with the organization’s Engagement Specialists team
  • Develop the communications and marketing plans for various campaigns
  • Lead the Content Specialist(s) in the execution of representative, focused and bilingual content across social media, website, newsletters, and publications
  • Manage the marketing and communications budget with the CMO including but not limited to recommending spend, soliciting quotes, filing POs and submitting invoices
  • Constantly champion and challenge the organization to deliver high-quality, exceptional content for the members and ensure their member experience is at the forefront of communications initiatives
  • Leverage key stakeholders as subject matter experts and consultants and ensure all communications reflect the unique perspective of our membership
  • Manage all translation requests and translation providers for all communications across the organization
  • Work cross-functionally in the development of communications and marketing plans supporting work led by other departments

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience in communications and/or marketing at either an agency or not for profit
  • Creative individual who can contribute to ideation around communications and marketing and who strives to constantly consider fresh ways to communicate with the member
  • Proven understanding of target markets, insights/trends and applying those to the creative process
  • Experience with any of the following: consumer campaign development, staff management, vendor management, brand management
  • Eager to learn and contribute to communications and marketing best practices and push the needle with the tone and approach to communications on behalf of the organization
  • Has a thoughtful approach to communications and can manage priorities when there are competing demands
  • Experience with performance measurement including analytics, analysis, trends and AB testing
  • Experience with website management and development
  • Experience working in a national, bilingual environment (either for a client or at an Association)
  • Demonstrated success developing unique, focused campaigns with measurable outcome-focused success
  • Demonstrated experience with Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop), Drupal and/or similar platforms and services
  • Comfortable in a high-performance, high-paced culture
  • Relentless focus on exceptional customer service for partners
  • Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines
